Twinkies - Community - Longevity
March 26, 2008
“There was an Alameda County study that tracked the lives of 7,000 people
over nine years. Researches found that the most isolated people were three times more likely to die than people with strong relational connections.
They found, moreover, that people who had bad health habits like smoking, poor eating habits, no exercise, alcohol use, and so on, people with bad health habits but strong social ties lived significantly longer than people who had great health habits—jogging and everything—but were isolated.
In other words, it is better to eat Twinkies with good friends than to eat broccoli alone.”
John Ortberg - from a recent sermon entitled, “The Power of Belonging”
